Sutton Coldfield

A civil parish and town in Birmingham, West Midlands, England is Sutton Coldfield, Sutton Coldfield's Royal Town officially (/( ə rɔɪ.əl taʊn ɒv) ˌsʌtən ˈkɒldfiəld/). Being the "south town" (i.e. south of Tamworth and/or Lichfield) on the edge of the "col field", the name "Sutton Coldfield" appears to come from this time. Still undeveloped, the Sutton Coldfield area, passed into the Mercia kingdom that is Anglo Saxon, upon the Roman withdrawal from Britain to protect the Roman Empire on the continent in the 5th century.

Due in part to Birmingham's industrialists that were wealthy, for their country houses, seeing Sutton Coldfield as a location that was suitable, away from the pollution of the larger town, the town also grew. Found that there were 67 hearths and stoves, of which 30 were attributed to two houses owned by the Willoughby family, was the survey of Sutton Coldfield. The Corporation of Sutton Coldfield was left untouched, despite the Act imposed changes that were radical.

Escaping the pollution of the city for the landscapes of Sutton Park, the railways led quickly to Sutton Coldfield, becoming a picnic parties and day excursions location that is popular for the Birmingham residents. Sutton Coldfield became part of Birmingham when the metropolitan county of the West Midlands was formed in 1974. Borders Erdington, New Oscott, the North Warwickshire district, Streetly, Lichfield and Tamworth in Staffordshire, is Sutton Coldfield.

Currently represent the area, are two clubs; Sutton Coldfield RFC founded and located on the Walmley Road in 1924, while located at Coppice Lane is Spartans RFC, founded 1960. Represented by Paget Rangers F.C., and also to Sutton Coldfield Town F.C. which in 1879 was founded, who share their Coles Lane ground, is Sutton Coldfield. Sutton Coldfield railway station which is part of the Birmingham Cross-City Line is also in the Town centre, nearby, fairly close to the Sutton Park Visitor's Centre, is the Town Gate entrance to Sutton Park.

On Jockey Road (A453) is Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls. As a result of the 1882 Act of Municipal Corporations, Sutton Coldfield became a borough that is municipal not until April 1882. People travelled between Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield, a journey that took around 80 minutes, for the majority of the 19th century.

The Royal Hotel was constructed on an eminence that is small adjacent to the station of Sutton Coldfield in 1865, hoping to capitalise on the new tourist industry the town was witnessing. W.T. Parsons began Sutton Coldfield's first newspaper publication, Sutton Coldfield News in 1870. Walmley Golf Club and Pype Hayes Golf Course is in the south of Sutton Coldfield. Sutton Cottage Hospital, which is operated by the Birmingham East and North Primary Care Trust, is another hospital in Sutton Coldfield.
